Evidence of finite sQGP formation time at RHIC

چکیده
We demonstrate that the existence of a finite formation time of strongly interacting plasma in nuclear collisions at RHIC is an inavitable conclusion from recent experimental data. The most striking feature of the experimental data an absense of absorption of high transverse momentum pions in the rection plane direction for mid-peripheral collisions points to the presence of a surface zone with no absorption and strong suppression in the inner core. A natural interpretation of such a zone should be the plasma formation time T≃ 2-3 fm/c. We discuss constraints induced by finite formation time on some physical observables at RHIC. Nuclear modification factor, azimuthal assymetry, di-jet correlations can quantitatively be described by particle production in the early stage of the nuclear collision. A possible impact on azimuthal anisotropy at lower hardon momenta, on interpretation of the non-photonic electrons and J/ψ data is also considered.

Heavy-Quark Probes of the Quark-Gluon Plasma at RHIC
Thermalization and collective flow of charm (c) and bottom (b) quarks in ultra-relativistic heavyion collisions are evaluated based on elastic parton rescattering in an expanding quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We show that resonant interactions in a strongly interacting QGP (sQGP), as well as parton coalescence, can play an essential role in the interpretation of recent data from the Relativistic He...
متن کاملThe role of elliptic flow correlations in the discovery of the sQGP at RHIC
Flow measurements are reviewed with particular emphasis on the hydrodynamic character of elliptic flow at RHIC. Hydrodynamic scaling compatible with the production of highly thermalized matter having a high degree of collective interactions and extremely low viscosity, is observed for a broad selection of the data. These properties suggest the production of a new state of strongly interacting n...

متن کاملHadronization and chirality in strongly interacting partonic matter - the future of the RHIC program
New physics and detector concepts for a future pp and heavy ion program at the RHIC-II accelerator facility will be discussed. I will focus on hadronic observables which enable us to gain a better understanding on the hadronization from a sQGP and the chiral symmetry restoration in a sQGP. The ultimate question of how matter acquires mass can be addressed by this program in a complementary way ...
متن کاملWhat can we learn from hydrodynamic analysis at RHIC?
We can establish a new picture, the perfect fluid sQGP core and the dissipative hadronic corona, of the space-time evolution of produced matter in relativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC. It is also shown that the picture works well also in the forward rapidity region through an analysis based on a new class of the hydro-kinetic model and that this is a manifestation of rapid increase of entr...
